Ash

Ashwood feels smooth to the touch. It is durable, tough, and flexible. It has excellent nailing, screw holding, and gluing properties. Hence, carpenters love to work with ash wood. Ash is quite similar to Red Oak in appearance and many working properties.

Ash features a light colored, nearly white sapwood; heartwood is typically tan or light brown. Ash has excellent shock resistance, and it is one of the most commonly used hardwoods for tool handles in North America.

White Ash grows across the entire Appalachian hardwood area. As a species, Ash lumber is considered to have a moderate hardwood lumber price.
