Naturally Abundant. Responsibly Harvested.
As a responsible company, we strive to promote responsible harvesting to ensure our forests and natural resources continue to be available for generations to come.
The net volume (after harvest) for Black Walnut increases 2.9 million m³ each year.
Walnut growth exceeds harvest in all of the areas where we source our timber. Wood is an amazing natural resource and an excellent choice for eco-effective design.
13.09 SECONDS! It takes 13.09 seconds to grow 1m³ of American Walnut.
The replacement rate is calculated from total U.S. annual increment of the specified hardwood species derived from the U.S. Forest Service Inventory and Analysis (FIA) program and assumes that 2 m³ of logs is harvested to produce 1 m³ of lumber (i.e. 50% conversion efficiency). The rapid rate of replacement is due to the very large volume of hardwood trees in U.S.
Life-Cycle Assessment for American Black Walnut
LCA is a process of evaluating the environmental impact of a product over the entire period of its life. The American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) has captured and analyzed data to evaluate the entire life cycle of American Black Walnut. This interactive LCA tool allows you to select the wood species, lumber thickness, export port location, and import port location, providing in-depth data.
We encourage you to look up information specific to your area and product(s).
Use the AHEC LCA Tool.
