Latest Sawmill Technology
Our state-of-the-art computerized scanning and optimization systems in our sawmill provide uniform thickness and manufacture in our lumber. This new equipment was installed in November of 2021 utilizing the most modern technology available on the market.
Controlling Moisture: Steaming / Waxing / Stacking / Drying
All walnut lumber undergoes 84 hours of temperature-controlled steaming to ensure the best possible color. All boards are end-coated with wax to slow moisture escape and prevent end-checking as they begin the drying process. We use 1” stickers, on 1’ centers to provide even air circulation throughout the entire drying process. Our 8 lumber kilns are controlled with computer monitoring to insure proper moisture content and stress relief. All these extra measures are done to provide our customers with less waste and a greater value.
Inspecting Lumber Prior to Shipping
All lumber is inspected after kiln drying at our NHLA Grade Certified facility to ensure that each board meets or exceeds the requirements of the grade. Each tally is computer generated with width and length of every piece in the bundle.
